A working group, led by Ambassador Clarence E. Pilgrim, has been formed to develop policy guidelines for Antigua and Barbuda’s baking sector, aiming to register all bakers and bakeries.

The group seeks to establish a bakers’ association, enhance industry standards, and ensure fair trade.

It will review regulations, assess current practices, and consult stakeholders to shape a National Baking Policy in Antigua and Barbuda focused on sustainability, fair trade, and consumer protection.

Co-chair Nadia James emphasized the policy’s regulatory, health, and economic considerations, while Chief Health Inspector Daryl Spencer noted the development of specialized training for bakers.
