Communications specialist, Angelica O’Donoghue, has been awarded the 2025 Woman of Wadadli Award for Excellence in Media by the Directorate of Gender Affairs and the Caribbean Union Bank. She was one of seventeen women awarded in various spheres of endeavour and their overall contributions to nation building.

The presentation was made on Saturday night at a ceremony held at the Sir John E St. Luce Conference Centre on the Factory Road. O’Donoghue who was surrounded by family and friends, described the occasion as ‘a deeply humbling and inspiring experience’

She observed, “Communication, in all its facets, has always been my passion—how we speak, listen, write, read, interpret, and present ourselves is one of the most powerful tools we possess.

“I am profoundly thankful to the Directorate of Gender Affairs and Caribbean Union Bank for recognizing this passion and awarding me the 2025 Woman of Wadadli Award for Excellence in Media and Communications and for my commitment to empowering women and girls.”

She added that kicking off Women’s History Month in such a meaningful way reminds her of the importance of lifting each other up. “To every girl and woman striving to make an impact—keep pushing, keep occupying spaces, and keep making your voices heard. As Laurel Thatcher Ulrich said, ‘Well-behaved women rarely make history’,” she remarked.

O’Donoghue is urging women and girls to ‘be bold, unapologetic, and thunderous in everything they do!’.
