A Virgin Atlantic flight bound for London was forced to return to Antigua after Heathrow Airport unexpectedly closed late last night.

The aircraft, carrying 234 passengers and crew, landed safely at V.C. Bird International Airport around 4 a.m. The closure, caused by a major power outage, has affected Terminals 2 and 4 and left over 5,000 homes nearby without electricity.

Airport officials have suspended operations for Friday, disrupting more than 1,350 flights. Virgin Atlantic has cancelled all Heathrow services until at least 5:30 p.m. EST on March 21 and advised passengers to avoid the airport. British Airways has issued a similar warning.
