National Record Holder in the 60 meters indoor, **Joella Lloyd** , gave a solid account of herself at the 2025 World Indoor Championships held in Nanjing, China over the weekend, advancing to the semifinals on the back of a 7.21 second performance at the newly built Nanjing’s Cube gymnasium in the Nanjing Youth Olympic Sports Park.

The performance, which was just shy of her 7.15 record setting mark achieved in February 2021 at the SEC Championships in the USA, saw Lloyd finishing ahead of the field in Heat 6 in the preliminary round of the competition.

The Antiguan, however, could not replicate the performance in the semifinal round, bowing out of the championships after posting 7.25 in the first semifinal, finishing fourth in the race won by Italy’s Zaynab Dosso.

Dosso went on to secure the gold medal with a time of 7.01 seconds in the final, ahead of Switzerland’s Mujinga Kambundji in 7.02 seconds. Luxembourg’s Patrizia van der Weken secured bronze with a national record of 7.06, Luxembourg’s first-ever medal in the history of the championships. Poland’s Ewa Swoboda came close in fourth, setting a season’s best of 7.07.

Lloyd was Antigua and Barbuda’s lone representative at this year’s championships.
