The Minister for Technologies, Melford Nicholas, has confirmed the government is purchasing additional surveillance equipment to support police in tackling crime hotspots. The move follows requests from national security agencies, including the police, army, and ONCDP.

Speaking on Observer AM, Nicholas said the $2 million EC expansion—excluding operational costs—is already underway, with equipment expected to arrive within four weeks. Installation will begin shortly after.

The initiative reflects the government’s urgency in responding to recent spikes in criminal activity.
