**URGENT – High Surf Advisory!?

A High Surf Advisory is in effect for Antigua, Barbuda, the British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, St. Kitts, Nevis, and Montserrat due to moderate long-period swells expected to reach our shores.
⚠️ Locations to be Affected:
– Northern and east-facing coastlines
– Reefs and exposed coastal areas
– Areas with shallow, gently to moderately sloping nearshore regions
? Timing:
– Barbuda: From Tuesday dawn until Thursday pre-dawn
– Antigua, Anguilla, St. Kitts, Nevis, and the British Virgin Islands: From Tuesday morning until Thursday morning
– Montserrat: From Tuesday evening until Wednesday afternoon
? What to Expect:
– Dangerous surf conditions with waves 2 to 3 meters (6-10 feet)
– Strong rip currents
– Coastal flooding and beach erosion
– Potential harm to swimmers, beachgoers, and marine activities

– Life-threatening surf and rip currents
– Injuries to beachgoers
– **Beach closures**
– Disruptions to marine recreation and businesses
– Damage to coral reefs
– Saltwater intrusion into freshwater supplies
⚠️Precautions:
– Extreme caution for beachgoers, especially in northern and eastern regions.
– Swim only where lifeguards are present, or on more sheltered beaches.
– Stay away from rocky coastlines and be mindful of rip currents.
– If caught in a rip current, float and don’t fight the current. Swim sideways if possible or signal for help.
