The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season is expected to be above normal, with the potential to become “super hyperactive,” according to climatologist Dale C. S. Destin of 268Weather.

His forecast projects 20 named storms, 10 hurricanes, and 5 major hurricanes—well above the historical averages.

There’s a 52% chance the season could rank among the most active on record, driven mainly by warmer sea surface temperatures in the tropical Atlantic.

Destin urges early preparedness, especially across vulnerable Caribbean islands, as the season officially begins on 1 June.
