Shop stewards from across Antigua and Barbuda gathered this week for a long-overdue training session at the Hospitality Training Institute, aimed at improving labour representation on the ground.

Organised by the Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union, the session covered key topics from the Labour Code to international standards and workplace dispute resolution.

Deputy Labour Commissioner Pascal Kentish highlighted the link between local laws and global human rights standards, while ABWU General Secretary Alick Daniel urged stewards to take greater responsibility at the company level.

Participants hailed from various sectors including tourism, public works, and retail. More sessions are planned, including workshops with HR professionals to encourage dialogue and reduce conflict.
