Prime Minister Gaston Browne has confirmed that roadworks will begin within weeks as the government starts drawing down on a $100 million loan from local banks.

Speaking on the _Browne and Browne_ show, the finance minister said the Jennings New Extension road to Hermitage will be among the first repaired. “We are about to draw down on the loan, and I am sure that from the first installment, that road will be one of the first we address,” he stated.

The loan will be repaid through increased vehicle licensing fees, with proceeds channelled into a dedicated road fund.

Browne also said the project will prioritise local contractors to support jobs and build national capacity in road construction.
