Two men charged in connection with a gun and ammunition found in Sutherlands have been remanded in custody.

Otinco Thomas of Clarehall and Roan Hector of Hatton appeared before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on Tuesday.

Hector pleaded guilty to possession of a 9mm Taurus pistol and ten rounds of ammunition, while Thomas denied the charges.

The incident took place on 27 April. Prosecutors said they intend to proceed to trial against Thomas.

Both men were denied bail. The case resumes on 27 August.
