A state-recognised memorial service will be held for Sir Robert Barrett at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium on 23 May.
The prominent hotelier died on 6 March at the age of 84, surrounded by family and friends.
Sir Robert was a key figure in Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism sector, with investments exceeding US$500 million.
Over four decades, he developed several major resorts, including the Verandah, Pineapple Beach Club, Hammock Cove, St James’s Club, Galley Bay Resort, and Jolly Beach Resort, creating thousands of jobs.
He was knighted on Independence Day in 2023 for his contributions to tourism.
The memorial, granted official status by the government, will begin at 10:00 local time. Several officials are expected to attend.
