Prime Minister Gaston Browne has rejected accusations of corruption, insisting there is no evidence to support claims of wrongdoing and maintaining that his administration upholds strong standards of governance.

Speaking during his Labour Day address on Monday, Browne said his government has been unfairly targeted by what he described as a campaign of misinformation and political propaganda.

“When they come with all the propaganda, when they call me a thief and all manner of evil—tell them to bring the evidence,” he said. “Not one of them can bring a scintilla of evidence that Gaston Browne has been involved in any corruption.”

The Prime Minister dismissed claims related to high-profile matters such as the Alfa Nero yacht sale, saying, “They can talk about Alfaneo, Alfago—whatever they want to talk about—not this man here.”

Browne also framed the accusations as an attack not just on him personally but on the integrity of the country’s leadership and institutions.

“When we rebut their lies, it is about protecting the integrity of this country,” he said. “Antigua and Barbuda is one of the best governed countries in the world.”

He accused members of the opposition of projecting their own misconduct, saying, “When they speak about corruption, they’re speaking about themselves. If they want to see corruption, look in the mirror.”

Browne’s remarks come amid ongoing criticism from opposition figures, whom he labelled as “vagabonds” and “charlatans,” warning that they pose a danger to national stability and progress.
