Prime Minister Gaston Browne is attending a high-stakes meeting in Washington with six CARICOM leaders and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss trade, security, immigration, and citizenship-by-investment programmes.
Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador to the US, Sir Ronald Sanders, confirmed that Browne raised key concerns during the talks. “He said there is no question of the relationship between Antigua and Barbuda and the US,” Sir Ronald noted, adding that Browne highlighted the size of the Antiguan and Barbudan diaspora in the US compared to the home population.
The discussions also touched on US-China relations and the future of investment programmes in the region.
The talks are expected to influence trade deals, immigration policy, and regional cooperation on security and economic development.
