    Dear Editor

Yesterday, as I was browsing the article in one of our popular news portal, I felt a sense of gratification, pride & joy when I read the article that a judge has given the green light for a court hearing for a mother seeking justice for her son, who met his mortal demise while serving time in prison.

From time to time, articles have been published about “victims of incidents” not getting the justice that is duly due to them. For some unknown reason, their cases are swept under the carpet and hence, these victims & love ones are left with the pain & agony throughout the rest of their lives.

The mother of the deceased, is suing for negligence, breach of statutory duty, and misfeasance in public office, which in my humble opinion seems to be an epidemic that prevails in some gov’t institutions such as our hospital & police force.

Sometimes hearing these horror stories, it leaves an impression that there seems to be a lack of proper accountability by the authorities and so ” questionable incidents ” just vanishes into thin air.

High commendation must be given to the judge who instructed the Attorney General that the mother who is seeking justice, must be given a court hearing.

According to the news portal, “The Attorney General had not filed a defense but instead sought to dismiss the case entirely”. The portal then continued that The Justice ruled, ” the case must be heard on its merits, emphasizing that such claims “regarding a death in state custody” require full examination”.

I do hope that this case will set precedence, and many more persons will get the justice that are due to them.
