Foundation work on Antigua’s new cruise terminal is 95 percent complete, according to Maintenance and Engineering Manager Bevon Burke.

He provided the update during the Cruise Connect forum held Monday at the Treasury Building.

The upcoming 1,200-square-foot terminal will feature retail outlets, dining options, and upgraded passenger amenities to boost onshore spending.

However, soft soil conditions have required deep piling through several geological layers, and recent heavy rains have further slowed progress.

Despite these challenges, port officials say they are on track to complete phase one of the Upland Development Project by November 2025.

Tourism Minister Charles Fernandez also highlighted key projects supporting the cruise sector.

Dredging at Crabb’s Peninsula is expected to conclude by July 2025, while Chukka Caribbean continues work on the Fort Barrington development.

With more cruise calls, enhanced facilities, and upgraded infrastructure, Antigua is positioning itself to capitalise on the continued growth of cruise tourism.
