Police have launched an investigation following a break-in at the Soup Kitchen on Lower All Saints Road, which State media reports say resulted in the theft of more than $1,500 worth of food, groceries, and two cooking gas cylinders.

The incident, which also left damage to the facility’s door locks, has disrupted vital services provided to vulnerable members of the community.

According to authorities, the focus of the investigation is a man recently released from prison after serving time for similar offences. The development has reignited concerns over the safety and security of community support centres.

Staff and volunteers are now working urgently to replace stolen goods and resume normal operations. Many in the area rely on the Soup Kitchen for daily meals and assistance.

Despite the setback, the organisation has vowed to continue its work. Police are urging anyone with information related to the break-in to come forward.
