The police have arrested and jointly charged 23-year-old Taren Weston of Yorks and 25-year-old Malique Challenger of Potters for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

On Saturday, 21 June, police officers executed a search warrant at a property in Yorks, where both accused were present. During the search, the officers discovered one (1) .45mm Remington pistol, along with seven (7) rounds of matching ammunition and a quantity of camouflage clothing.

The two men were arrested and taken into custody. They have since been formally charged and are expected to appear before the court sometime this week.

The police continue to intensify efforts in removing illegal firearms and ammunition off the nation’s streets, and are encouraging the public to report any suspicious activity by contacting the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).
