Daniel Antonio of Antigua and Barbuda clinched gold in the Left Arm Youth 90KG+ category at the Pan American Arm Wrestling Championships held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

He topped the podium ahead of Costa Rica’s Santiago Carvajal Córdoba and Argentina’s Matias Herrera, who took silver and bronze respectively.

Antonio did not medal in the Right Arm division but shared on Facebook that the experience was invaluable. “Although receiving 0 medals on right arm yesterday the number of connections made are immeasurable,” he wrote, adding that competitors across the Americas now know about Antigua and Barbuda.

Citing cold weather and refereeing challenges, Antonio said he remains motivated: “The goal for my next competition is to be twice as strong so I leave no room for error.”
