A judicial review hearing wrapped up today in a high-profile case that could determine whether a multi-million-dollar project at Cedar Tree Point moves forward or is struck down.

Barbudan fisherman George Jeffrey is taking on Antigua and Barbuda’s Development Control Authority, with backing from the UK-based Global Legal Action Network. The case relates to what he calls an illegal decision to greenlight construction inside the Ramsar-listed Codrington Lagoon.

They’re asking the court to quash the development permit granted in May 2022 for a luxury residential project by the Abercorn Trust, led by Englishman Henry Anderson.
