The Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Fisheries & The Blue Economy proudly participated in the Business Section of the Antigua Carnival parade yesterday (August 5, 2025), marking the final day of the vibrant national celebration.

Their presence added a unique and educational touch to the festivities, as they showcased the rich agricultural heritage of Antigua and Barbuda.

Taking the longer route this year, the Ministry used the opportunity to highlight various aspects of local farming and livestock. Spectators were treated to an up-close view of animals such as goats, sheep, chickens, and rabbits—demonstrating the diversity of agriculture across the island. The initiative not only entertained the crowd but also raised awareness about the importance of farming in national development.

Adding a sweet and refreshing surprise to the experience, members of the public were gifted slices of juicy watermelon by the Chinese delegation attached to the Ministry.

The gesture was well-received and served as a symbol of unity and collaboration between local and international partners working together to support agricultural growth.

Dressed in vibrant, coordinated outfits, Ministry staff proudly represented their departments while engaging with the public, answering questions, and sharing insights on agriculture, lands, and fisheries. Their energy and enthusiasm left a lasting impression on parade-goers.

As the curtain closed on this year’s Carnival, the Ministry’s participation stood out as both informative and festive—reinforcing the essential role agriculture plays in feeding the nation, supporting livelihoods, and enriching the cultural landscape of Antigua and Barbuda.
