LAST CHANCE, CAPTAIN. MAKE IT COUNT

Dear UPP

For Harold Lovell’s return to be successful UPP needs to do the following:

Immediately hire a GOOD political strategist. One who knows politics and understands Antigua politics. Not the dabblers who have been checking in with some colorless press releases every now and then to fill their quota.

Institute changes at Crusader radio to meet this new development. Make the station more politically relevant. If I was not listening to Observer I would not hear about Lovell’s return until minutes to nine when Zizi blustered and mumbled through a reading of the press statement issued by the party. Afterwards, that was the end of that. He went on to read parts of a newspaper article written by the Chairman berating Gaston Browne. Talking about the chairman, there was no response made by her in the press statement. Does that say anything for us to take notice of?

I am glad Mr Lovell is not running in City East. I did not think the constituency treated him well and I told him so. We needed a good candidate here, but I thought he was wasted on us. The people in this constituency love plenty handouts.

It seems rather strange that the radio station is as silent as the grave. No calling in to say yea or nay to the new move. And the morning host is not firing up anything. Everything is as normal as ever. Maybe listeners would have to wait until Rum Joint radio comes on to learn more about the matter and get their spin on it. This would never happened if it was on the other side. The station would have been hot from the calls from the red people.

UPP is a strange party. In City East we got a new caretaker which was forced on us. It looked like the leadership was saying my way or no way.

The silence of the chairman is deafening. Schoolchildren say she is happy with Pringle as leader and does not want Lovell back in because that could change her management plans. Remember she did not fight for him when Gaston said he sent people to vote him out in City East.

It is up to Lovell to do things right this time. If he is coming back he has to have an all or nothing approach to his re-entry. My whole family is behind him and will work to get him back in. But he must work hard to make it work even if it means he has to get some people out who are standing in the way of a return to power, or have their own agenda for the UPP.
