The Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC) has issued a statement addressing media reports that a patient’s mobile phone was stolen while admitted at the facility.

According to hospital officials, no official reports of theft have been received to date. The institution stressed that it has established procedures for reporting and investigating such matters and assured the public that any credible complaint would be thoroughly addressed.

In its response, SLBMC voiced concern that the article in question could cause unnecessary alarm among patients, families, and the wider community. The hospital described the media as important partners in advancing healthcare discussions but urged journalists to uphold ethical standards.

“We encourage media organizations to verify information with credible evidence before publication, avoid sensationalism that could undermine public trust, and safeguard patient confidentiality at all times,” the statement read.

The medical centre reaffirmed its commitment to providing safe and compassionate care while maintaining public confidence. It added that any substantiated claims of theft or misconduct would be investigated in line with its established security protocols.
