Antigua and Barbuda has opened a new overseas tourism office in Toronto, Canada, as the government moves to strengthen its presence in one of the country’s fastest-growing visitor markets.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne confirmed the decision during his weekly Pointe FM interview, saying the choice of Toronto was based on market intelligence showing a surge in Canadian travellers seeking Caribbean destinations.

“We’ve been advised that there are more Canadians now who are seeking to come to the Caribbean, and we’re trying to capitalize on that market. The market intelligence would have suggested Toronto,” Browne said.

He added that tourism officials would remain open to expanding representation in other Canadian cities, such as Ottawa, should demand patterns indicate the need.

Canada is a key source market for Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism industry, with growing airlift from major Canadian airlines and strong demand during the winter season. Officials expect the new office to boost visibility, strengthen partnerships with tour operators, and attract more Canadian visitors to the twin-island nation.

The Toronto office forms part of a wider strategy to diversify Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism outreach and ensure continued growth in arrivals from North America and beyond.
