The Eastern Caribbean Amalgamated Bank (ECAB) is proud to announce the first recipient of the ECAB Aspiring Leaders Scholarship, a landmark initiative aimed at supporting the next generation of national leaders.

Eighteen-year-old Tajhere Browne has been awarded the prestigious scholarship. In September, the Antiguan will be pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Data Science, Innovation Management, and Computer Science at the University of the West Indies, Five Islands Campus.

Tajhere is a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy, where he earned the impressive National CXC Gold Award. He continued his studies at Antigua State College, where he maintained a Grade Point Average above 4.0 throughout his academic tenure and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Science and Mathematics with honours.

The ECAB Selection Committee commended Tajhere for being an outstanding candidate who was well endorsed by his lecturers, not only for his academic performance but his conduct.

The ECAB Aspiring Leaders Scholarship will cover the full tuition of Tajhere’s academic tenure. Additionally, ECAB will cover ancillary costs in the first year of his studies to include guild and student ID costs, and he’ll receive a stipend for textbooks. Tajhere will also be granted an 8-week internship at ECAB during the final year of his program.

The recipient said, “I’m truly grateful to ECAB for giving me this opportunity. This scholarship not only helps me but allows me to contribute to Antigua & Barbuda.”

ECAB’s Marketing Manager, K. Michele Marshall, remarked, “This scholarship is an investment in our nation’s future. We aim to foster a generation of bright, driven young people who will emerge as tomorrow’s leaders. Tajhere’s story is just the beginning, and we look forward to celebrating many more like him in the years to come.”

To commemorate the achievement, a plaque was revealed at the ECAB Coolidge Branch bearing his name. The plaque will serve as a lasting tribute, with the names of future scholarship recipients added annually.
