The Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands has appointed Mr. Torsten Stenzel, Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Antigua and Barbuda, as its official representative in Antigua, Barbuda, and Montserrat.

Mr. Stenzel has served as Honorary Consul of Germany in Antigua since 2015. During his tenure, he has been instrumental in strengthening bilateral relations and advancing cooperation between Germany and Antigua and Barbuda.

Under his guidance, Germany has provided substantial assistance to the country, including humanitarian support in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, financial contributions to the Red Cross and ABSAR, the reconstruction of school roofs and the expansion of the island’s hospice facilities, among other initiatives.

The German Consulate in Antigua has also been a vital point of contact for the island’s tourism sector, providing consular assistance to as many as 20,000 German cruise ship passengers per month during the high season. Services rendered range from the issuance of emergency travel documents to the coordination of medical evacuations.

With this new appointment, Dutch nationals — including residents, tourists, and visitors to Antigua and Barbuda — will likewise benefit from a dedicated local consular representative, further enhancing the framework of support and cooperation between the Netherlands and Antigua and Barbuda.

Mr. Stenzel stated: “It is a great honor to be entrusted with this responsibility on behalf of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. I look forward to serving the Dutch community in Antigua, Barbuda, and Montserrat, and to further strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation between our nations.”
