The police have arrested four young men in connection with the theft of watermelons from the Parham Primary School Farm.

At approximately 12:00 p.m. on Monday, September 1, officers responded to a report, where several individuals were seen stealing agricultural produce from the school’s compound.

Upon the arrival of the police, the suspects fled the scene.

A 19-year-old resident of Vernons was pursued and apprehended, while further investigations led to the arrests of three others: a 20-year-old, an 18-year-old, and a 17-year-old, all of Parham.

They are currently in police custody assisting with the ongoing investigations.

The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda continues to remind the public that Praedial Larceny is a serious criminal offence.

Such acts not only deprive farmers and institutions of their rightful produce but also threaten the sustainability of local agriculture.

The police will maintain a firm stance and take decisive action against anyone found engaging in the unlawful taking of crops or livestock.
