PUBLIC NOTICEVC Bird International Airfield Upgrade Project

The Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority (ABAA) wishes to inform members of the public about upcoming activities related to the Airfield Upgrade Project at the VC Bird International Airport.

Effective immediately through December 20, 2025, between the hours of 7am and 6pm, there will be a significant increase in heavy-duty vehicles on the Sir George Walter Highway. The trucks will be transporting essential aggregate materials for the project.

We do not anticipate any traffic disruptions or significant delays, but urge road users to be cautious or give way when sharing the highway with the heavy-duty vehicles.

Additionally, beginning September 15, 2025, nighttime earthworks will commence on the south-western section of the airfield and continue through December 20, 2025.

The ABAA wishes to express its appreciation to all residents, commuters, and stakeholders for their patience and cooperation during this important infrastructure development. We will continue to provide regular updates to all sections of the public as the construction work progresses.
