    Government Expands Maintenace Department to Address Public Building Failures

    The Ministry of Works has strengthened its HVAC department to tackle widespread air-conditioning failures in government buildings.

    At Thursday’s post-Cabinet briefing, Director General of Communications Maurice Merchant said: “The Ministry of Works has also upgraded its HVAC department or its air conditioning department. This is in particular to serve government buildings. There has been an upsurge in issues relating to air conditioning in government buildings. And so the ministry has upgraded its resources in terms of its staffing to better address issues of HVAC systems within public buildings.” CABINET PRESS BRIEFING (THURSDA…

    The upgrades will provide dedicated technical support for cooling systems across public facilities, where breakdowns have disrupted operations in recent months.

    Cabinet framed the move as part of its wider programme of infrastructure improvements, which also includes the refurbishment of community clinics, the installation of new guardrails on highways, and the launch of anti-litter and beautification campaigns.

    Officials said the strengthened HVAC department is intended to ensure public buildings remain safe, functional, and comfortable for both staff and the public.
