A 22-year-old man has been granted bail after being charged with breaking into a Potters home and stealing a car and electronics.

Malachi Toussaint of Green Bay appeared in court on Monday accused of housebreaking, larceny and several traffic offences. He was released on $10,000 bail, with $1,000 cash, and ordered to provide two sureties, report regularly to police and surrender his travel documents.

Police allege Toussaint entered the home between 6 and 13 September, stealing a vehicle, a sound system and a 40-inch television. He was arrested after being seen driving the stolen car on 17 September.

Toussaint also faces charges of driving without a licence or insurance, using an unlicensed vehicle, and fraudulent use of a licence plate.

The case was adjourned to 10 December.
