The Barbuda Council has become aware of a fire at the Codrington Landfill and wishes to advise the public that the Barbuda Council’s Health Department and workers attached to the landfill were not responsible for igniting this fire and further condemns any burning of solid waste materials at said location.

Furthermore, The Council encourages persons who have any information about the perpetrator(s) who may have started the fire to report it to the Health Administrative Office or the Police.

The fire has caused unsafe air quality within the community, and we urge persons with respiratory conditions to exercise extra precaution to safeguard your health.

The Barbuda Council, in collaboration with the Barbuda Fire Department, is utilizing all options available to contain and extinguish the fire.
