Tropical Storm Jerry has dissipated, marking the end of its life cycle as the National Hurricane Center issued its final advisory Friday evening.

At 5 p.m. AST, Jerry’s remnants were centered near latitude 27.6 North, longitude 63.6 West, moving north at 16 mph. The system has weakened into a remnant trough but continues to produce gale-force winds of up to 45 mph, extending as far as 240 miles east of the center.

While Jerry no longer poses a direct threat to land, forecasters warned that dangerous surf and rip currents will continue to affect the Leeward Islands, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, the Turks and Caicos, and the Bahamas.

Meanwhile, a disturbance in the eastern Atlantic has been given a medium chance of formation in the coming days. The system poses no immediate threat to land but will be monitored closely as it moves westward.

The National Hurricane Center said additional updates on Jerry’s remnants will now be included in the High Seas Forecasts issued by the National Weather Service.
