The Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross Society has relaunched its mobile clinic, months after the unit was vandalized and equipment stolen in mid-May.

The attack damaged vital medical supplies, smashed windows, and led to the theft of the clinic’s air-conditioning unit — the latest in a series of break-ins targeting the organization.

Despite the losses, the Red Cross restored and reinforced the vehicle with new locks, security windows, and a replacement air-conditioning unit from its headquarters.

ABRCS President Dr. Jose Humphreys called the incident “heartbreaking but not defeating,” and thanked the Mill Reef Fund, Fleet and Logistics Manager Jameel Ambrose, and M. Etwaru Construction Service for helping return the clinic to service.

The mobile unit offers screenings, vaccinations, maternal care, and disaster health support in underserved communities.

To prevent future attacks, the Red Cross has added reinforced doors, shutters, CCTV cameras, and access controls. The organization says the clinic’s return represents resilience and renewed commitment to humanitarian service.
