The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) has recommissioned the Buckley’s Tank following major refurbishment works to the 600,000-imperial-gallon facility, restoring its full operational capacity to serve communities in the south-eastern region.

Hon. Melford Nicholas, Minister of Public Utilities, and Hon. E.P. Chet Greene, Minister of Foreign Affairs and parliamentary representative for St. Paul’s, joined the APUA team on Friday during a site visit to mark the tank’s completion.

The restored tank now supplies water to several surrounding districts, including Liberta and Horsford Hill, strengthening delivery to areas that have experienced periodic supply challenges.

APUA Chief Executive Officer John Bradshaw outlined further upgrades across the island’s water infrastructure, including the refurbishment of a two-million-gallon storage tank at Crabbs, the commissioning of the 450,000-imperial-gallon Pattersons tank, and the planned construction of new storage facilities in the New Winthropes Wink Eye area.

Bradshaw said the Authority’s continued investments are designed to increase both production and storage capacity, ensuring a more reliable and sustainable water supply for consumers.
