Attorney General and Minister of National Security Sir Steadroy “Cutie” Benjamin has announced that the government will install additional street lights and increase police patrols across All Saints West as part of efforts to improve community safety.

Speaking Thursday night at a town hall meeting in Seaview Farm hosted by MP Hon. Anthony Smith Jr., Benjamin said new lighting will be placed in areas including Bellevue Estate, following repeated appeals from residents and their parliamentary representative.

“Anthony Smith has been behind me to get the lights in Bellevue,” Benjamin said. “We intend to install 1,500 new lights, and I know young Smitty will be the first to ask for his share, especially in the Bellevue area.”

Benjamin said the initiative forms part of the government’s broader plan to strengthen public safety through improved visibility and community engagement.

“As the minister responsible for safety, I’m promising more patrols in the area,” he added. “We’re going to fight to get more light in the area. Please get your neighbourhood watchers together, make sure you watch your neighbour and your neighbour watches you.”

The Attorney General commended Smith for his advocacy on behalf of constituents, including youth development and education opportunities, and called on residents to support local law enforcement by reporting suspicious activity.

The Seaview Farm town hall also featured Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Health Minister Sir Molwyn Joseph, who gave updates on government projects in the constituency, including the planned All Saints Polyclinic and ongoing infrastructure upgrades.
