All watches and warnings linked to Hurricane Melissa have been lifted, including the last remaining Hurricane Warning for Bermuda, as the system accelerates northeast into the Atlantic.

Bermuda experienced storm-force winds overnight, with gusts approaching hurricane strength as Melissa passed nearby. While some power outages and minor infrastructure issues were reported, no significant damage has emerged.

As of 5 a.m. AST, Melissa was located roughly 255 miles (405 km) north of Bermuda, moving northeast at 41 mph (67 km/h), with maximum sustained winds of 90 mph (150 km/h) and a minimum central pressure of 973 millibars, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Forecasters say the storm is expected to transition into an extratropical cyclone later today. Its outer bands may still bring a brief period of heavy rain and gusty winds to Newfoundland’s southern Avalon Peninsula tonight.

Melissa’s departure signals the end of its impact on Bermuda and the surrounding Caribbean region, though authorities continue to monitor the Atlantic for potential new storm activity.
