Dear Editor,
In a development that has shocked many supporters of the United Progressive Party (UPP), a group consisting of a woman in the diaspora, two talk show hosts, and a young MP has emerged as part of a push to undermine the leadership of Hon. Jamale Pringle. This internal discord raises questions about the future direction of the party and the legacy of its current leader.
As a long-time supporter of the party, I write with a heavy heart. I have staunchly supported the UPP since its days under the PLM and have never wavered from my allegiance. It is disheartening to witness what is unfolding before my eyes—an apparent attempt by senior members within the UPP to discredit and topple Hon. Jamale Pringle, the duly elected leader of the party.
Pringle has dedicated years of service, transforming and revitalizing the party from within. As the sole representative in Parliament for years, he single-handedly fought against the government and rallied the party from the brink of decline. His leadership, strength, and resilience have been pivotal in the party’s survival and resurgence.
Moreover, Jamale Pringle has shown unwavering support for Harold Lovell’s leadership, despite facing setbacks, including two consecutive election losses. His backing of Lovell has been instrumental in maintaining unity and morale within the party during challenging times. However, the current efforts by the two talk show hosts, supported by the young MP and a woman in the diaspora, appear to be driven by personal interests and a desire to weaken Pringle’s influence.
These individuals are reportedly tearing down the party’s leader in the interest of Harold Lovell, whose time has seemingly passed. Lovell, now in his seventies, has been a towering figure in the party’s history, but many believe it’s time for new leadership to emerge—leaders who are courageous, fearless, and dedicated to the future of the UPP.
It is crucial now more than ever for party members and supporters to rally behind Hon. Jamale Pringle, who has proven himself as a committed, strong, and capable leader. The internal division threatens to undo the progress made and risks alienating supporters who see Pringle as the rightful leader capable of steering the party forward.
In conclusion, the call is clear: it is time for the UPP to unite, support their current leader, and focus on building a brighter future. The party’s strength lies in resilience, unity, and the courageous leadership of individuals like Hon. Jamale Pringle. We must stand against division and support the leader who has fought tirelessly for our party.
Respectfully,
Strong UPP Supporter
