The Prices and Consumer Affairs Division informs the public of the new requirements for promotional competitions under Section 133 of the new Consumer Protection Act, 2025.

This notice is to all suppliers, vendors, retailers, and other persons or entities conducting promotional competitions (including raffles, prize draws, giveaways, or similar promotional activities).

This section of the Act aims to safeguard consumers participating in promotional contests, raffles, and similar activities by ensuring that all such promotions are conducted fairly, and in compliance with the Act.

It outlines the responsibilities of promoters, including the method of winner selection, and specifies the prizes to be awarded.

All persons or suppliers who are conducting a promotional competition are required to submit their competition’s full rules, terms and conditions, and promotional materials to the Prices & Consumer Affairs Division before launching the activity.

The Division urges all promoters, businesses, and consumers to take note of these new legal requirements.

We encourage all suppliers to review the Act and ensure that any promotional competition you conduct is fully compliant.

Promoters are encouraged to contact or visit the Prices and Consumer Affairs Division for more information and guidance regarding their obligations under the Consumer Protection Act, 2025.
