The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA), National Clean-up tagged _Love where You Live!_ began in October. The cleanup lasted three weeks involving an intensive cleanup across the community of Villa Area spanning from Dickenson Bay Street across Anchorage Road and down to Fort James Drive, our team, transformed the community environment and set the stage for a cleaner, healthier neighborhood.

Over the course of the campaign, crews collected an impressive thirteen (13) tons of bulk waste that had accumulated across public spaces and vacant lots. Seventy-five (75) vacant plots were cleared of debris, overgrown trees, and bushes restoring them to safe and hygiene conditions and thirty-one (31) vehicles removed. Thirteen gutters were identified as damaged or blocked along with recommendations made to repair and restore proper water flow to prevent future flooding to include power washing of drains throughout the community for drains.

Tree cutting and vegetation control were also conducted throughout the area, improving visibility and public safety while enhancing the overall appearance of the neighborhood.

The impact of these efforts has been significant. Streets once cluttered with waste are now cleared, and residents have taken notice. The Authority is now working within the Yorks community to make these improvements, and encourages residents to put out their waste for timely collection and to maintain the pristine environment that would be left. The Authority will be wrapping up in Yorks on Friday 21st November, 2025.

This successful cleanup demonstrates what can be accomplished when organized waste management and community cooperation come together to reclaim and protect shared spaces.
