The community of Jennings gathered on Friday for the funeral of Kahleel Simon of Bolans, who was laid to rest following a solemn service at the Cedar Hall Moravian Church.

Simon, 18, was killed by a police officer, according to accounts from his family and community members. His death has sparked widespread grief and calls for accountability as authorities continue their investigation.

In a statement, Senator Dwanye George extended condolences to Simon’s family, describing his passing as “heart-breaking” and urging continued support for those affected.

Simon was laid to rest shortly after the service, with mourners expressing hope for healing and justice as the community continues to grieve.
