Harold Lovell, the United Progressive Party (UPP) Caretaker for All Saints West, is clapping back against what he describes as Prime Minister Gaston Browne’s “reckless lies” and vowing to sue the head of government.

On Tuesday, November 2, the Prime Minister launched a smear campaign against Lovell and Opposition Parliamentarians in what Lovell describes as “a frantic attempt to escape Browne’sown deepening Vehicle-gate Scandal.” However, it has now blown up into a full-scale legal and political confrontation thatLovell, a senior attorney, is fully prepared to take to court.

Lovell says he will sue Browne for falsely accusing him of receiving a duty-free concession on his personal vehicle – an allegation he calls not just untrue, but a “deliberate political fabrication designed to distract” from the growing corruption scandal threatening the Administration. Accordingly, he says he intends to sue Browne for his libelous statement.

“I bought my car in December 2021. I paid ALL of my taxes. ALL!” he told Browne in a Facebook response on Tuesday. “I would rather starve than accept any favour from you.”

To support his declaration, Lovell confirms that he has already contacted the car dealership to obtain the purchase documents ahead of taking legal action.

Lovell, a former Minister of Finance, says Browne’s latest tactic is part of a wider pattern: deflection, distortion, and desperation as the truth about Vehicle-gate comes to light. He reasons that this latest scandal is about public assets being secretly funneled into private hands – with a Prime Minister who refuses to explain _how_ or _why_ this happened under his watch as Finance Minister.
