    Official Funeral Accorded to the Late Genevieve Smith

    The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has accorded an Official Funeral to the late Genevieve Smith in recognition of her outstanding and lifelong contribution to community service, education, and national development.

    Ms. Smith, a respected former educator and community stalwart, devoted decades of her life to the upliftment of others. Her unwavering commitment to service extended far beyond the classroom, as she was widely known for her compassion, generosity, and dedication to the welfare of vulnerable individuals and families within her community. Through her selfless acts, mentorship, and advocacy, she touched countless lives and leaves behind an enduring legacy of service and humanity.

    In keeping with the protocols associated with an Official Funeral, the public is advised that viewing will take place only at the Barnes Funeral Home at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday 7th January 2026. There will be no viewing at the church, and mourners are respectfully asked to observe this arrangement.

    The Official Funeral Service will be held at the Spring Gardens Moravian Church at 10:00 a.m., and will be conducted with full ceremonial honours, reflecting the high esteem in which Ms. Smith is held and acknowledging the profound impact of her service to the nation.

    The Government of Antigua and Barbuda together with the family of the late Genevieve Smith, extends sincere thanks to the public for their condolences, prayers, and support during this time of mourning, and encourages all to honour her memory by continuing the spirit of compassion and service that defined her life.
