Victim Identified as Vincentian National in Jennings Death

The woman who died at a residence in Jennings has been identified as Makellia Reneisha Williams a 24-year-old national of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Williams had been living in the community with her boyfriend, Akeem Barkas, who is also from St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Police were called to the Pease Alley area on Tuesday after she was found unresponsive inside the home. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Barkas told Antigua News that earlier reports suggesting the couple had argued the night before were inaccurate, saying no such dispute took place and that he did not provide that information to police.

Residents described Williams as quiet, reserved and friendly, recalling that she regularly greeted neighbors and shopkeepers as she passed through the area. Several said the loss of the young woman has deeply affected the normally close-knit community.

Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding Williams’ death are ongoing.
