The Antigua and Barbuda Department of Environment has opened applications for its Solar Street-Light Program, a sustainability initiative being implemented by the Government of Antigua and Barbuda with support from the Government of the People’s Republic of China.

The Department of Environment is inviting proposals from registered community groups, faith-based organizations, local farmers and private educational institutions. Successful applicants will receive an 8,000-lumen solar street light, an eight-metre pole and arm, a solar panel, battery and weatherproof battery box, along with additional fixtures required for assembly, including anchor bolts and mounting components.

While the equipment will be provided, applicants will be responsible for the installation costs associated with the solar lights. The department said limited support for transportation may be available upon inquiry.

Interested applicants are required to complete the application form available online at:

The deadline for submission of applications is February 20, 2026.

The program forms part of the government’s broader efforts to promote renewable energy use and sustainable infrastructure development across Antigua and Barbuda.
