(St. John’s, Antigua & Barbuda, January 28, 2026) – Antigua Cruise Port has officially launched its national “Name the Quay” competition, unveiled during the opening of its new cruise terminal within the Upland Development site, marking a key milestone in The Next Chapter of cruise tourism in Antigua and Barbuda.
The competition invites Antiguans and Barbudans at home and across the diaspora to propose a name for the new Quay, which will join Heritage Quay and Redcliffe Quay in St John’s harbour, as part of the permanent landscape of Antigua Cruise Port.
This initiative offers a unique opportunity for the people of Antigua and Barbuda to help shape the next chapter of the country’s cruise tourism story by proposing a name that reflects our cultural identity, heritage, creativity, and future vision for cruise tourism.
Competition Guidelines:
– Open to all Antiguans and Barbudans locally and across the diaspora
– Each submission must include a brief explanation (maximum 100 words)
– Proposed names must be original and not currently in official use in Antigua and Barbuda
– Names should reflect national culture, heritage, identity, and a future vision for cruise tourism
– Final selection rests with the Antigua Cruise PortJudging Criteria:
Submissions will be assessed based on:
– Reflection of Antiguan and Barbudan culture and identity
– Clear meaning and strong symbolism
– Originality, distinctiveness, and respectfulness
– Ease of pronunciation and timeless appeal
– Suitability for permanent public use
The grand prize winner of the “Name the Quay” competition will receive a cruise trip for two, offering an opportunity to experience the newly opened cruise terminal firsthand as part of an unforgettable homeporting cruise experience from Antigua and Barbuda.
