The Home Assistance Program for the Indigent (HAPI) has expanded its operations to Briggs Village, marking a shift toward assisting multiple households simultaneously as the government scales up its housing support for vulnerable residents.

Officials said the expanded approach is intended to speed up home repairs and restoration across communities, allowing more families to benefit at the same time rather than on a single-home basis.

The programme’s growth has been supported through collaboration across government agencies and partners, including Gaston Browne, Rawdon Turner and Cabinet, Senator Michael N. Freeland, and officials from the Social Protection Board.

Support has also come from the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force and Her Majesty’s Prison, including participating inmates, under the coordination of Chief of Defence Staff Telbert Benjamin.

HAPI focuses on repairing and improving homes for indigent and at-risk residents, with authorities describing the programme as an example of how coordinated partnerships can accelerate social assistance efforts nationwide.

The government says similar multi-home projects are planned for other communities as HAPI continues its rollout across Antigua and Barbuda.
