New guard rail installations have commenced across Antigua and Barbuda as part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety, the Ministry of Works has said.

The ministry explained that the project forms part of its continued commitment to protecting motorists and reducing the severity of road traffic accidents.

According to officials, the newly installed guard rails are designed to improve safety along key roadways by helping to prevent vehicles from leaving the carriageway, particularly in high-risk areas.

The Ministry of Works said the initiative reflects a broader focus on creating safer roads for all road users. However, motorists are being reminded that infrastructure improvements alone cannot eliminate road accidents.

Drivers are being urged to remain alert, obey traffic laws and practise responsible driving at all times.

The ministry stressed that while safety measures can help save lives, safer roads ultimately depend on safer choices by road users.
