Media Houses Cautioned Over Detailed Reporting in Nigel Christian Murder Trial

Several local media houses were recently cautioned by the High Court regarding the level of detail carried in their reporting on the ongoing Nigel Christian murder trial.

The caution reportedly followed concerns that extensive or graphic accounts of witness testimony could risk prejudicing the jury in the high-profile case, which is being heard before Justice Rajiv Persaud and a panel of jurors.

The court is understood to have addressed the issue as part of its responsibility to ensure a fair and impartial trial for all accused.

Judges have the authority to act where publications may interfere with active proceedings, including invoking contempt of court provisions if necessary.

    The trial remains ongoing.
