St. Philip North recorded significantly higher electoral activity than any other constituency during the week of Feb. 23–28, according to the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission’s latest official report, as the constituency prepares for a March 16 by-election.

The Commission’s Week #81 report shows St. Philip North logged 156 transactions over the six-day period — far surpassing all other constituencies across the country.

The daily totals for St. Philip North were 36 on Feb. 23, 28 on Feb. 24, 42 on Feb. 25, 34 on Feb. 26, 16 on Feb. 27 and four on Feb. 28, reflecting sustained activity throughout the week.

By comparison, no other constituency reached even 20 transactions for the week. St. George recorded 13, St. John’s Rural East 12 and All Saints West eight, while several constituencies reported little to no activity.

The report also indicates there were 234 replacement applications and 55 new applications processed nationally during the same period.

The concentration of activity in St. Philip North comes as political campaigning intensifies in the constituency ahead of the upcoming by-election. Replacement applications typically involve voters updating or reissuing identification cards, while new applications reflect first-time registrations or recent eligibility.

The Electoral Commission’s weekly breakdown underscores the heightened focus on St. Philip North as parties mobilize supporters and residents finalize their voter registration status in the lead-up to polling day.
