The UWI Regional Headquarters, Jamaica. Thursday, March 5, 2026— The University of the West Indies (The UWI) will commence its 2026 cycle of Annual Council Meetings on Friday, March 6, 2026, beginning at the Mona Campus.

As the first in the series, the Mona Campus Council Meeting will feature the lead presentation by Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal Professor Densil Williams at 9:00 a.m. Jamaica time, providing an overview of the 2024–2025 Year in Review, including key research and business activities, student data, and staff and student engagement.

Over the following weeks, governance councils for the university’s five campuses, and regional system will convene to review institutional performance for the 2024–2025 academic year, assess accountability reports, and engage with stakeholders on the institution’s strategic direction.

The public broadcast of the UWI Council Meetings—an annual tradition of transparency and accountability—allow each Campus Principal and Vice-Chancellor Beckles to present operational, financial, and academic updates from the preceding year. As a publicly funded institution serving 17 governments, these sessions affirm The UWI’s commitment to openness, regional service, and responsible stewardship of public investment.

This year’s reporting period comes on the heels of The UWI’s recent Times Higher Education ranking, which positions the institution among the top 3.6% of universities worldwide—an achievement measured against an estimated 35,000 universities globally.

As in previous years, the presentations will be broadcast live via UWI _tv_ , enabling participation from media and the public. Each session concludes with a dedicated media Q&A segment.
