Christopher Howell, also known as Yung Luiy, has died after battling critical illness at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre.

Howell had been in intensive care after suffering kidney failure and a liver condition, which left him in a coma and dependent on dialysis and life support.

In recent days, his family had appealed to the public for blood donations, and later launched a GoFundMe campaign with a $5,000 goal to assist with mounting medical expenses.

His mother, Claudette Armstrong, had described the situation as dire, saying her son was “fighting for his life” and thanking those who offered support through donations, blood contributions and sharing the appeal.

The family has expressed gratitude to members of the public who responded to the calls for help during Howell’s illness.

Further details surrounding funeral arrangements are expected to be announced.
